CAIRO – The Coordinating Committee Meeting of the 21st Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) kicked off Thursday with the participation of Foreign Minster Sameh Shoukry.
Egypt will be officially handed over the forum’s co-chairmanship from Morocco.
In September, the European Union (EU) was handed over the the GCTF’s co-presidency from Canada to co-chair the forum from September 2022 to September 2024.
Egypt will hold the co-chairmanship of the forum from March 2023 to March 2025.
The Egyptian-EU chairmanship of the GCTF will succeed that of Canada and Morocco, as they co-chaired the forum between 2019 and 2021.
The GCTF was established in 2011 to serve as an informal, multilateral platform. It enables policymakers and practitioners to share experience and expertise, develop tools and strategies to prevent and counter evolving terror threats.
