Standing at the foot of the Pyramids that have survived turmoil, wars, and pandemics, throughout history is a token of hope for humanity and a humble tribute to a civilisation that stands the test of time.

Set to be one of the most spectacular events ever held at the Pyramids, “Forever is Now” exhibition by Art D’Égypte foundation kicked off on Thursday.

‘Forever is now’ represents a merger of ancient heritage and contemporary art at the oldest and last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, which today survives as a UNESCO world heritage site.

“Forever Is Now” is the first contemporary exhibition to be held at the Pyramids of Giza, in the 4500-year history of the Pyramids.

The exhibition hosts the works of JR Artist, Lorenzo Quinn, Moataz Nasr, Alexander Ponomarev, Shuster + Moseley, Stephen Cox Ra, Gisela Colón, João Trevisan, Sultan bin Fahad and Sherin Guirguis.

One of the most well-known contemporary artist in the world, who is taking place in this event is the French street-artist JR.

He arrives in Egypt with ‘Greetings From Giza’ which is a striking post-card-like installation from 4500 years in the past.

Forever Is Now is an international art exhibition that reflects the profound influence of ancient Egypt and draws on the ongoing inclusiveness of contemporary cultural practices.

“This is a cross-cultural exhibition that showcases how ancient Egypt has been a monumental source of inspiration for artists throughout history,” said Nadine Abdel Ghaffar, French-Egyptian founder of Art D’Égypte.

“I have always been in awe of this extraordinary ancient civilisation that has influenced generations with discoveries in the sciences, arts, math, social justice, cultural development, and innovation,” Abdel Ghaffar added.

Egyptian culture is a gift to humanity. Therefore, the purpose of this exhibition is to showcase these treasures in a dialogue with the contemporary on an international scale, to the rest of the world, according to Abdel Ghaffar.

In previous years, Art D’Égypte has created similar transcendental experiences with cutting-edge exhibitions across Egypt’s landmarks including ‘Eternal Light: Something Old, Something New’ at The Egyptian Museum (2017), ‘Nothing Vanishes, Everything Transforms’ at Al Manial Palace (2018) and ‘Reimagined Narratives’ in Mu’iz Street, Old Cairo (2019).

The exhibition is running from October 21st to November 7th at the Pyramids of Giza.
