Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati underscored the growing importance of media as a strategic instrument in shaping the national narrative, clarifying facts, and countering misinformation campaigns targeting Egypt’s national security.
The minister’s remarks came during a meeting on Sunday with Ambassador Alaa Youssef, the newly appointed Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS), as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the SIS in support of the state’s media outreach.
During the meeting, Abdel-Aati emphasised the need to maintain close alignment between Egypt’s diplomatic engagement and its external media messaging, particularly in light of the exceptional regional circumstances. He stressed the importance of highlighting the country’s achievements and the significant progress made across various sectors in recent years under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, reflecting Egypt’s ongoing development momentum and its role as a pillar of regional security and stability.
The Egyptian chief diplomat extended his congratulations to Youssef on assuming his new post, and voiced confidence in his ability to lead the SIS at such critical period for the region.
He also highlighted the SIS’s key role in delivering a balanced and credible media message that reflects the priorities and objectives of the Egyptian state at both the domestic and international levels.
