Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr Badr Abdel-Aati, reaffirmed yesterday Egypt’s unwavering support for the Palestinian Authority and its strong rejection of any attempt to displace Palestinians from their lands.
He also emphasised Egypt’s ongoing efforts to halt the war in Gaza, secure a ceasefire agreement, and ensure the unfettered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Minister Abdel-Aati’s remarks came as he received a delegation from the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), in Cairo yesterday.
The delegation comprised Chairman of the National Council, Rawhi Fattouh and members of the PLO Executive Committee Ahmed al-Majdalani and Azzam al-Ahmad, , said the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khalaf.
During the meeting, the minister noted that Egypt is also mobilising support for an international recognition of an independent Palestinian State on the borders of June 4, 1967 with Eastern Jerusalem as its capital.
In this respect, minister Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of unifying Palestinians, and listened to the delegation’s assessment of developments in the West Bank and Gaza.
Additionally, the minister condemned the recent publication by official Israeli accounts of a purported map showing parts of Arab territories from Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria as Israeli ones.
