Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed Egypt’s support for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails during a meeting on Sunday with Fadwa Barghouti, the wife of imprisoned Fatah movement leader Marwan Barghouti.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said the foreign minister highlighted Egypt’s tireless efforts to maintain calm in the occupied territories and revive the Middle East peace process, with a view to achieving the Palestinian people’s legitimate aspirations for establishing an independent Palestinian state on 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On her part, Fadwa Barghouti lauded Egypt’s vigorous efforts in support of the Palestinian cause at all levels, as well as Cairo’s solidarity with Palestinian prisoners.
