CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty participated in the closing ceremony of the training program, organized by Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), affiliated to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena.

The training course was held in cooperation with the Chadian ministries of security, migration, justice and human rights on combating cross-border threats, and focusing on fighting terrorism, human trafficking and illegal immigration.

The closing ceremony was attended by Chadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abderaman Koulamallah and Minister of Public Security and Immigration Mohammed Ahmed Pasha.

Giving a word on the occasion, Abdelatty stressed the importance of this training program, which is being held for the first time in Chad, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of the Chadian national cadres concerned with border management, migration, displacement, and combating cross-border threats.

The minister also asserted Egypt’s keenness on transferring its extensive expertise and increasing the capabilities of Chadian institutions in various domains.

Abdelatty further noted that Egypt is also keen on helping in facing the growing numbers of displaced people due to violent conflicts, terrorist activities and humanitarian situations, particularly in the Sahel and Horn of Africa regions, a matter that constitutes a huge burden on both Egypt and Chad, as they are among the countries receiving IDPs from Sudan.

The minister also underlined the importance of regional cooperation to address the roots of crises and promote security and sustainable development.

He further underlined the successes achieved by Egypt in the areas of combating human trafficking and illegal immigration on the regional and international levels.

He stressed the importance of boosting cooperation between Egypt and Chad to face common challenges and consolidate bilateral cooperation.

The training program is an example of constructive bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Abdelatty said, calling for building on its remarkable successes and expanding it to include other areas.
