FM: Egypt deeply concerned over ongoing armed clashes in Sudan 11 - Egyptian Gazette

Egypts Foreign minister Sameh Shoukri has expressed to his Sudanese counterpart Ali al-Sadiq Egypt’s deep concern over the continuation of armed confrontations in the Sudan.

In a phone call to al-Sadiq on Sunday , Minister Shoukri said that such confrontations pose a threat to the Sudanese people security and safety, as well as country’s stability, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

The current developments on the Sudanese scene, and the ongoing efforts to end the crisis were reviewed during the call, spokesmaqn Abu Zaid said.

Also during the call, Shoukri briefed Sadek on the Egyptian-Saudi initiative of calling for an emergency meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates, to discuss the situation in Sudan.

He stressed that Egypt’s unwavering stance will always defend Sudan’s unity and integrity as well as the potentials of the Sudanese people, and the necessity of non-interference by any external party that might fuel the ongoing conflict, Spokesman Abu Zeid said.

In addition, Shoukri was briefed by his Sudanese counterpart on the latter’ assessment of the situation on the ground, and of the ongoing regional and international efforts and contacts

The conditions of the Egyptian community in the Sudan and the importance of maintaining their security and safety amid the deteriorating security situation were also considered during the Shoukri-Sadiq call, spokesman Abu Zaid said.
