A fire broke out on a regasification vessel and a storage vessel at the port of Damietta in northern Egypt, the petroleum ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
Emergency teams and firefighting and security personnel responded immediately under established emergency procedures, the ministry said.
Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi went to the site to oversee efforts to contain the fire and secure the area, coordinating with the authorities involved, it added.
The incident caused no injuries or deaths, according to the ministry, which said technical teams were continuing their work and assessing the consequences.
The ministry urged media outlets and social media users to rely on official statements for information, saying it would provide updates as developments emerge.
