Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad Saturday said that the file of financing climate is a key issue that should figure high at the 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (COP 29), in order to reach an effective decision as well as a unified global goal in this regard.
This came during the minister’s participation in the high-level session of the open dialogue to listen to ministers’ opinions regarding topics that would be tabled during COP29.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the15th Petersberg Climate Dialogue in the German capital of Berlin, with the participation of the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Fouad highlighted the issue of debt facing developing nations seeking to meet their commitments to the climate change and reducing carbon emissions.
She shed light on the challenges of financing climate resilience as well as failure to provide grants allocated for it.
