CAIRO – Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Soha Gendi said her ministry seeks to implement a strategy aimed at enabling Egyptians abroad to support the national economy.

The minister made the remarks during her meeting with Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt Carlos Oliver Cruz and his accompanying delegation, as they discussed ways of fostering cooperation, according to a statement released by the emigration ministry.

Gendi said her ministry is keen on the effective communication with Egyptians abroad through social media platforms and a special complaint department, to resolve their problems and respond to their demands, in addition to removing all obstacles facing them.

She stated that the Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Ministry succeeded, in collaboration with ten Egyptian investors living abroad, in setting up a joint stock company for attracting investments by Egyptians abroad in a number of sectors, including industry, agriculture, tourism, construction and information technology.

She pointed out that her ministry works to establish an Egyptian emigration center to train youth nationwide for employment.

On his part, the IOM official lauded the fruitful cooperation with the ministry, saying the UN agency looks forward to establishing partnerships with regard to capacity building.
