Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat on Saturday paid a field visit to the state-owned China Southern Power Grid International (CSGI), on the sidelines of his participation in the Shanghai Conference for Renewable Energy, Clean Energy Solutions, and Energy Transition in China.
During the visit, the minister met with CSGI chairman and senior officials responsible for managing the electricity grid across the southern provinces and cities of China.
The visit included a high-level meeting attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Beijing Khaled Nazmy to discuss potential cooperation in the fields of pumped-storage hydropower, energy storage station development, and designing an optimal energy mix to ensure grid stability and continuous supply, especially in light of the increasing reliance on renewable energy sources in the coming period.
Esmat was briefed on the company’s core operations, its advanced technologies, and its capabilities in pumped-storage and energy storage facilities.
He also attended a presentation from the company’s leadership team on the vital role of hydropower and energy storage in securing electricity networks that are increasingly dependent on variable renewable sources such as solar and wind energy.
