Minister of State for Military Production, Major General Salah Suleiman Gomblat, and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Randa El-Menshawy, have reviewed progress in joint projects of the presidential “Hayah Karima” (Decent Life) initiative, with focus on accelerating implementation and resolving any obstacles.
Gomblat received El-Menshawy on Tuesday, with several officials from both ministries attending the discussions.
Gomblat stressed his ministry’s commitment to carrying out President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives, to boost co-operation with various state ministries and institutions.
This is likely to help maximise the use of the manufacturing and technical capabilities of ministry’s affiliated companies in implementing major national projects across various sectors and supporting comprehensive development plans.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in a number of existing co-operation files, foremost among them projects under the presidential Decent Life.
The two sides reviewed work progress in various projects and agreed on the need to complete the remaining works in line with the highest standards of quality and efficiency, particularly projects that have reached advanced stages of implementation, to bring them into service quickly and maximise their benefits for residents of targeted villages. They also stressed the need to overcome any obstacles that could hamper implementation.
Gomblat said his ministry was moving ahead with utilising surplus production capacity at its affiliated companies to participate in a range of development projects, alongside its primary role of meeting the armed forces’ and police’s needs for weapons, ammunition, equipment and advanced electronic systems.
For her part, El-Minshawy said co-operation with the State Ministry of Military Production in implementing Decent Life projects was part of efforts to integrate the work of state institutions and make use of available technical and implementation expertise and capabilities. The co-operation also aimed to improve the quality of services provided to residents of targeted villages in line with the highest quality standards and specified timetables.
The housing minister said Decent Life projects represented an integrated model of co-operation among state institutions, stressing the importance of continued co-ordination between the Ministries of Housing and Military Production in implementing the works, monitoring progress rates and overcoming any challenges that might arise. This would help ensure that the initiative’s development targets were met, improve infrastructure and services, and enhance the quality of life for residents of targeted villages.
El-Minshawy added that co-operation with the Ministry of Military Production in implementing Decent Life projects also supported the state’s drive to localise industry and deepen domestic manufacturing by using locally manufactured products and components in the projects.
