Minister OF Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel Aaty held talks on Thursday with Executive Secretary of the Community of Sahel‑Saharan States (CEN‑SAD) Eddo Haji in the Chadian capital N’Djamena. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen the bloc’s role in promoting stability and security across the Sahel and Sahara region.
Minister Abdel Aaty underscored Egypt’s vision for revitalising CEN‑SAD, highlighting priorities such as counter‑terrorism, tackling irregular migration and building the security capacities of member states. He stressed the importance of maximising the bloc’s tools, particularly the Sahel‑Sahara Counter‑Terrorism Centre in Cairo. In this respect, he reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for efforts to combat terrorism in West Africa and the Sahel.
The minister emphasised the need for a comprehensive approach that combines security and development dimensions to address the region’s challenges effectively.
