Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty has highlighted growing relations between Egypt and Asian countries, and reaffirmed Cairo’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the face of attacks targeting the Kingdom’s security and stability.
In an interview with Bloomberg TV on Tuesday, Abdelatty discussed the growing momentum in Egypt’s ties with Asian countries following President Abdel Fattah EL-Sisi’s recent visits to South Korea, Malaysia, and Indonesia, which offered fresh impetus for strengthening bilateral ties across various fields.
He also reviewed prospects for expanding bilateral co-operation between Egypt and Thailand.
The interview also addressed Egypt’s participation in the autumn annual meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Abdelatty outlined developments in the Egyptian economy and the government’s efforts to implement its economic reform programme, calling on international partners to explore promising investment opportunities in Egypt.
Addressing regional developments, the chief diplomat underlined Egypt’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the face of the attacks targeting the country’s security and stability.
He stressed that Saudi Arabia’s national security was an integral part of Egypt’s and the Arab World’s national security.
He reaffirmed Cairo’s readiness to provide all forms of support and respond to any requests from the Saudi side, which reflects the deep fraternal and strategic ties binding the two countries, as well as their shared commitment to safeguarding regional security and stability.
