More than 19.4 million Egyptian citizens have benefited from the Presidential Initiative for the Early Detection of Cancers since its launch in June 2023, the Ministry of Health and Population unveiled on Saturday.
Part of the wider “100 Million Healthy Lives” campaign, the initiative provides free screening services for lung, prostate, colon, and cervical cancers.
According to the ministry, the scheme uses an electronic risk assessment questionnaire to identify suspected cases.
Patients are then referred for advanced diagnostic testing and immediate care, with confirmed cases receiving treatment from specialised multidisciplinary medical teams.
The initiative has also enabled the early detection of numerous cancer cases and referred tens of thousands of individuals to smoking cessation clinics, helping improve recovery rates and strengthen preventive healthcare.
Citizens can access the service through health units nationwide or via the initiative’s hotlines, official website and social media platforms.
