Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty had a phone call on Thursday with Beate Meinl-Reisinger, newly-appointed Austrian Foreign Minister, on means of promoting bilateral relations, the latest developments of the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip as well as the conditions in Syria, Sudan and Yemen.

The talks also took up the water security issue.

Abdelatty congratulated the new Austrian minister for assuming her post, voicing hope to work together to further bilateral relations and coordination vis-a-vis regional and international issues, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said.

The two sides also tackled means of enhancing economic cooperation, trade exchange and investment between the two countries.

They reviewed ways of boosting technical cooperation, especially in the immigration domain.

As for the Israeli aggression in Gaza, Abdelatty spelled out Egypt’s vision on means of ending this crisis and its efforts to return to ceasefire deal and consolidate it.

He highlighted the need to find sustainable solution to this conflict in light of the continued Israeli escalation.

He stressed the importance of pressurizing Israel for an immediate ceasefire and swift delivery of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

As for the conditions in Syria, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s stand on the developments in Syria, stressing the importance of halting the flagrant Israeli violations in Syria.

He stressed Egypt’s support for the Syrian institutions and for launching a comprehensive political process with the participation of all Syrian factions.
