Egypt has welcomed the restoration of diplomatic representation between the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, lauding the move as a positive step on the path to consolidate joint Arab action and deepen the oneness of Arab ranks.
A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Monday said that Egypt stands in support of all efforts aimed at enhancing inter-Arab relations on all levels and protecting the interests of Arab peoples.
The statement came shortly after an announcement by the Qatari Foreign Ministry that the embassies of the two countries re-opened.
Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani held a phone call as the two embassies reopened yesterday, Reuters reported.
