Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty asserted, during his meeting here Tuesday with his US counterpart Antony Blinken, the strategic nature of bilateral ties and both countries’ keenness to boost them for the best interest of the Egyptian and American peoples.

Abdelatty asserted the importance of working together to improve the different aspects of political, military, trade and economic cooperation between Egypt and the US with the aim of boosting strategic partnership.

Blinken asserted the US keenness on boosting relations with Egypt and agreement of both sides on the importance of holding a second round of the joint economic committee meetings to promote economic and trade ties between both countries, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

The meeting tackled the latest developments in the crisis in Gaza and the Egyptian-Qatari-US efforts to reach a ceasefire and stop the bloodshed in the enclave in addition to allowing humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities in order to contain the current humanitarian crisis, the spokesman said.

Abdelatty asserted the vision of Egypt and all the countries of the region toward a stable future in the Middle East on the basis of finding a just and permanent solution to the Palestinian cause and guaranteeing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Meanwhile, Blinken lauded Egyptian efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Abdelatty was keen on apprising Blinken of the outcomes of the communications and visits he conducted lately to contain the regional escalation.

The talks took up the current status of the Geneva talks on the crisis in Sudan, Abu Zeid said.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s stance to reach an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and contain the humanitarian repercussions, the spokesman said.

The talks also probed a number of regional issues of mutual interest on the Arab and African arenas, topped by the latest developments in Libya, the Horn of Africa, security of Red Sea and the political and security situation on the African coast.

Both sides exchanged views on efforts exerted to settle conflicts in the region.

Both ministers agreed on continuing coordination and consultation in the coming period in mediation efforts on the crisis in Gaza and containing the regional escalation.
