Egypt to participate in 27th Universal Postal Congress in Abidjan

Egypt will take part in the 27th Universal Postal Congress which is due to be held in Abidjan on August 9-27.

Within this context, Egyptian Ambassador in Abidjan Wael Badawi had talks with Issac Gnamba Yao, CEO of the Cote d’Ivoire postal authority.

Yao voiced deep appreciation for Egypt’s planned participation in the Universal Postal Congress.

He hailed Egypt’s contribution to preparing the African Union postal strategy for the coming four years, referring to the great progress which Egypt realized in digitizing postal services.

Moreover, Badawi had talks Patricia Amand, the head of the office of the Cote d’Ivoire’s Communications Minister and the head of the organizing committee of the congress.

The talks tackled Egypt’s preparations for the event.

Badawi, according to MENA, highlighted Egypt’s keenness on enhancing cooperation with Cote d’Ivoire in the communications and postal services score.

The congress is organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

During the Congress, the UPU member states are expected to adopt the new World Postal Strategy – a roadmap for the new work cycle commencing in 2022.

The Congress will also decide on new rules and set policies on the international exchange of postal items.
