Egypt’s Ambassador to Ecuador, Ambassador Tamer Mamdouh, inaugurated on Wednesday the renovated and restored “Egypt Square” in the Ecuadorian capital, Quito, following a joint effort between the General Authority for the Funding of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Buildings Abroad and the Municipality of Quito.
Acting Mayor of Quito, Fernanda Racines, alongside ambassadors accredited to Ecuador, members of the Egyptian and Arab communities, and senior officials from the Quito Municipality were present at the inauguration ceremony.
In his remarks, Ambassador Mamdouh affirmed that the reopening of Egypt Square forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the bonds of friendship and co-operation between Egypt and Ecuador and to deepen relations between the two friendly nations.
He noted that Egypt Square represents more than a public space in the Ecuadorian capital, describing it as a symbol of the cultural and civilisational ties linking Egypt and Ecuador and reflecting the enduring friendship and mutual understanding between their peoples.
The ambassador also expressed his appreciation to the Municipality of Quito and all parties involved in the successful completion of the renovation and restoration project.
He further praised the spirit of co-operation that contributed to preserving the square as a landmark embodying the distinguished relations between the two countries.
