Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting on Monday evening to follow up on President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directive to draft a national economic program for the period after Egypt’s reform program with the International Monetary Fund.
The session brought together senior officials including Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa, Central Bank Governor Hassan Abdalla, Finance Minister Ahmed Kojok, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi, Labor Minister Hassan Raddad, Planning Minister Ahmed Rostom, Industry Minister Khaled Hashem, and other key representatives.
Madbouly said the government, in full coordination with the Central Bank, is working on a comprehensive program that reflects Egypt’s economic priorities for the coming stage. A dedicated working group is finalizing the framework, which will be presented to President El-Sisi before its official announcement.
Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsany explained that the program’s main features and targets were reviewed, ensuring alignment between fiscal and monetary policies. The meeting also examined lessons from other countries’ post-IMF reform experiences to shape a program tailored to Egypt’s needs, while building on the national structural reform plan, Egypt’s development narrative, and Vision 2030.
Madbouly stressed the importance of drafting the program in clear language accessible to citizens and experts alike, with measurable goals and transparent performance evaluation. He added that the program will be opened to public dialogue with specialists before its final release.
