Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the National Identity Conference, scheduled to be held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, stressing the importance of preserving Egypt’s national, cultural and civilisational identity.

The meeting, held at the government headquarters in New Alamein, was attended by Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister and acting Culture Minister Abdelaziz Konsowa, Presidential Adviser for Local Development Khaled Fouda and Bibliotheca Alexandrina Director Ahmed Zayed, among other officials.

Madbouli said protecting national identity and raising public awareness are among the state’s top priorities.

He stressed the need to strengthen young people’s awareness and protect them from harmful ideas through coordinated efforts by educational, cultural and media institutions.

He said the conference, held under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s vision for building the Egyptian individual, would present practical proposals and scientific perspectives to strengthen belonging and citizenship while highlighting Egypt’s deep historical roots.

Fouda stressed the importance of coordinating efforts between local administrations and state institutions to promote national awareness across Egypt, particularly among young people and communities in border areas.

Zayed said the conference aims to launch a national and community dialogue on identity amid rapid social, cultural, economic and digital changes, including the growing influence of social media.

The event will also give young people an opportunity to share their views on the future of national identity and will conclude with the “Bibliotheca Alexandrina National Identity Document”, containing practical recommendations for education, culture, media, religious discourse and civil society.
