CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli attended on Sunday the signing of an agreement to set up an international centre for green hydrogen in the presence of Higher Education Minister Ayman Ashour.

The agreement was signed by President of Nile University Wael Akl and CEO of GH2 organisation Jonas Moberg on the second day of Egypt-EU Investment Conference.

The center aims at boosting State efforts in the renewable energy and green hydrogen domains, offering technical assistance to Egypt and African nations and accelerating finance of renewable energy and green hydrogen projects, Ashour said.

This will help Egypt become a green hydrogen production hub and will attract more direct investments to the country, he added.

Akl said the agreement also aims to contribute to developing the green hydrogen manufacturing standard in Egypt, developing and supporting certificates of origin and making sure that Egyptian standards comply with international standards in addition to contributing to securing access to markets and enhancing competitiveness in agreements related to purchasing green hydrogen.

The President of Nile University said the agreement aims to support the development of market access strategies, facilitate regional co-operation through the activities of the African Green Hydrogen Alliance (AGHA), in addition to enhancing co-operation with major export markets, developing training programs, strengthening partnerships with local industries, creating more local job opportunities and enhancing technical skills.
