The second phase of the East Nile monorail will begin operations on Saturday, completing the line from Cairo Stadium Station in Nasr City to the City of Justice Station in the New Administrative Capital, Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir announced on Friday.
The newly opened section extends service from El-Mosheer Tantawy and includes six stations: Cairo Stadium, Hisham Barakat, Al-Azhar University, Seventh District, El-Mosheer Ahmed Ismail, and Jehan El-Sadat. The monorail will operate daily from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm.
This expansion is expected to strengthen transport links between Greater Cairo, New Cairo, and the New Administrative Capital by integrating with Metro Line 3 at Cairo Stadium Station. Future interchanges with Metro Lines 4 and 6 are also planned.
To encourage travel to the New Capital, the ministry confirmed that the operator will continue to offer a 50 per cent fare discount on Fridays, Saturdays, and official public holidays.
