Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and visiting Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović witnessed on Monday the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Alexandria Port Authority and Montenegro Ports Authority, marking a new step in strengthening bilateral ties in maritime transport and logistics.
The agreement was signed by Admiral Ihab Salah, Chairman of Alexandria Port Authority, and Stanko Dretic, head of Montenegro Ports Authority, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.
The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation in port management and operations, digital transformation, capacity building, and environmental sustainability. It also includes exploring opportunities for direct maritime links between Egyptian and Montenegrin ports to support supply chains and enhance trade and investment flows.
Officials noted that Egypt’s ports are undergoing unprecedented upgrades in infrastructure and logistics services, positioning the country as a regional hub for transport and transit trade. The partnership with Montenegro is expected to expand international cooperation, exchange expertise, and raise the competitiveness of Egyptian ports.
Both sides emphasized that their strategic locations on the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas open wide prospects for maritime and logistics partnerships, connecting European markets with the Middle East and North Africa.
The signing reflects Alexandria Port Authority’s drive to broaden its global partnerships, transfer technology, and strengthen efficiency, in line with the Transport Ministry’s goals to modernize Egypt’s maritime sector and boost competitiveness regionally and internationally.
