CAIRO – Egypt celebrates the UNESCO’s World Radio Day on February 13 under the theme “Radio and Artificial Intelligence: AI is a tool, not a voice,” underscoring the critical role of radio in delivering reliable information and strengthening public confidence in media.
The Egyptian Radio, with a distinguished history dating back to its official launch in 1934, continues to play a leading role in the celebrations.
Over the decades, it has contributed to national awareness, cultural identity, and historic broadcasts, including statements during the July 1952 Revolution and victory announcements in the October 1973 war.
For 2026, Egyptian Radio will present a comprehensive program under the theme “Radio and Artificial Intelligence”, highlighting the evolution of broadcasting, the rise of podcasts, and the integration of AI technologies while maintaining human oversight.
Across multiple networks, including the General Program, Radio Al-Kibar, Radio Middle East, Youth and Sports, and Sawt Al-Arab (Voice of the Arabs), listeners will experience documentaries, drama programs, interactive segments, and multilingual content, reflecting the human dimension of radio in the digital era.
The celebrations reaffirm Egyptian Radio’s ongoing commitment to innovation, public engagement, and its enduring role as a pillar of Egypt’s media and cultural influence.
