Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa met on Wednesday Kyrgyz Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov on the sidelines of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation summit hosted by Bishkek, where Issa represented President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The talks focused on ways to expand trade, economic and investment co-operation between Egypt and Kyrgyzstan, as both sides seek to take bilateral relations to broader horizons.

Eissa underscored the depth of Egyptian-Kyrgyz relations, highlighting the longstanding ties between the two friendly countries and peoples.

He stressed Egypt’s keenness to develop bilateral co-operation in a manner that serves their shared interests and supports sustainable development.

The two sides expressed a shared interest in increasing bilateral trade and expanding direct contacts between business communities in Egypt and Kyrgyzstan.

They also discussed efforts to attract greater levels of reciprocal investment to strengthen the two countries’ economic partnership.

The meeting also explored opportunities for joint projects in a number of key sectors, particularly industry, agriculture, energy, tourism and pharmaceuticals.

The two officials reviewed progress in implementing agreements reached following Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov’s official visit to Egypt in November 2025, during which the two countries signed a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding.
