Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptiam Expatriates met his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the Arab Ministerial Committee meeting on international action to address Israel’s illegal policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem, held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
Abdel-Aati reaffirmed the strength of Egyptian-Iraqi relations and Egypt’s commitment to further expanding cooperation across various fields.
He also expressed hope that the fourth session of the Egyptian-Iraqi Joint Higher Committee would be held in Cairo in 2027.
The minister reiterated Egypt’s firm support for Iraq’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, while rejecting any foreign interference in its internal affairs.
He also reaffirmed Egypt’s backing for Iraqi state institutions in addressing political, economic and security challenges, stressing that Iraq’s stability is a cornerstone of both Arab and Egyptian national security.
The meeting also reviewed the trilateral cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.
The two ministers described the framework as a promising platform for regional integration and for making better use of the three countries’ human and economic potential.
They stressed the importance of building on the progress already achieved to advance development and shared prosperity for their peoples.
