Industry Minister Khaled Hashem met on Wednesday Indian Ambassador Suresh K. Reddy to discuss strengthening bilateral industrial ties. Talks focused on priority sectors including renewable energy, food industries, automotive, pharmaceuticals and electronics.
Hashem stressed the need to translate close relations into real projects, urging stronger private sector engagement and activation of the Egypt-India Business Council. He welcomed large and medium Indian firms to invest in Egypt, highlighting opportunities to transfer industrial technologies, build local capacity and use Egypt’s geographic advantages and trade agreements as a gateway to global markets. He also pointed to the potential for Indian developers to establish new industrial zones under Egypt’s industrial developer system.
Ambassador Reddy described Egypt as a strategic partner and regional hub for manufacturing and exports, citing successful Indian investments such as TCI Sanmar Chemicals. He invited Hashem to attend the BRICS industry ministers’ meeting and proposed a roundtable with Indian companies to explore further opportunities.
