Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Guinean Minister of International Co-operation and Planning Ismail Nabi held talks on Sunday on strengthening bilateral economic, development and investment ties.

The ministers met on the sidelines of the Islamic Development Bank technical agencies dialogue in Cairo.

Abdelatty congratulated Nabi on his expanded ministerial portfolio and welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Egypt’s Agency for Partnership for Development and Guinea’s technical co-operation agency, describing it as a step towards strengthening capacity-building and development co-operation.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Guinea through training programmes organised by the Agency for Partnership for Development and Al-Azhar.

The minister welcomed the launch of Guinea’s “Simandou2040” mining project, one of Africa’s largest investment ventures, and expressed Egypt’s interest in expanding its economic presence in Guinea, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector.

He affirmed Egypt’s readiness to share its expertise in water resources management and agricultural investment to help strengthen Guinea’s food security, while also promoting partnerships in education, universities and vocational training to equip Guinean youth with essential skills.
