Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem stressed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening the iron and steel industry. He described it as the backbone of strategic sectors, especially automotive and home appliances.
He said steel products support Egypt’s industrial development goals. He added that the ministry is focusing on industries based on steel production, with an eye on exports.
The minister made his remarks during his meeting on Wednesday with a delegation from China’s Baowu Steel Group, led by Chairman Hu Wangming.
The talks focused on boosting industrial and investment cooperation. They also explored increasing investments in priority industrial sectors.
The minister added that Egypt offers strong opportunities in infrastructure and manufacturing.
He said the government is improving the business environment and supporting investors. This would help expand cooperation in steel, green industries and industrial supply chains.
For his part, Hu Wangming said Egypt has a strategic location and strong market potential.
He expressed the group’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Egypt. He said Baowu aims to align its plans with Egypt’s development priorities.
He highlighted the group’s expertise in steel production, technology and management.
He added that Baowu is keen to explore practical joint projects. These efforts would support regional industrial development and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
