Chairman of the National Press Authority (NPA) Abdel Sadeq El-Shorbagy has received Ivorian Ambassador to Cairo Albert G. Dolly at the NPA headquarters to discuss ways to strengthen co-operation in areas of mutual interest.

Welcoming the Ivorian ambassador, El-Shorbagy highlighted the deep-rooted relations and close ties binding Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire.

He reaffirmed the NPA’s keenness to promote press and media co-operation with African countries, while creating new opportunities for exchanging expertise and coordinating perspectives.

El-Shorbagy outlined the NPA’s mandate and legal responsibilities, highlighting its role in overseeing Egypt’s national press institutions, developing their assets and upgrading their technological and editorial systems in line with international standards.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of launching joint training and capacity-building programmes for journalists and media professionals.

The proposed co-operation would include specialised workshops and training courses to enhance professional skills, as well as journalist and professional exchange visits between the two countries.

For his part, Ambassador Dolly expressed his pleasure at visiting the NPA and praised the prominent standing of the Egyptian press and its historic influence across the region.

He underscored the importance of drawing on Egypt’s extensive experience in developing the media and journalism, while building a sustainable partnership that serves the shared interests of the two countries.
