Under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives, Foreign Minister Badr Abdel‑Aati met Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby on Friday. The discussions centred on strengthening bilateral relations, with Egypt’s ministers of health, transport and higher education also in attendance.

Abdel-Aati conveyed greetings from President El Sisi and handed over a written message outlining ways to deepen co-operation and reinforce the strategic partnership. The letter also invited Chad to join the Alamein Africa Business Forum, scheduled for October 4 alongside the African Union mid‑year coordination summit.

President Déby expressed appreciation for Egypt’s leadership, commending El Sisi’s mediation efforts to ease tensions and support peace in Africa and the Middle East. He underlined the value of Egypt–Chad relations and welcomed further collaboration across multiple sectors.

The meeting reviewed outcomes of the fourth Egypt–Chad Joint Committee, including new agreements and projects, which includeda medical convoy performing over 500 eye surgeries and opening a dialysis unit in N’Djamena., the launch of a new EgyptAir route and the establishment of El Gran Corridor company to boost logistics, and transport initiatives linking Egypt, Libya and Chad, alongside expanded infrastructure projects and logistics hubs.

Minister Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of the upcoming Egypt–Chad Business Forum, noting strong interest from Egyptian companies in Chad’s market. He highlighted the trilateral corridor project as a driver for investment in energy, communications and trade.

Both sides exchanged views on pressing regional challenges, including developments in Sudan and the Sahel. They agreed to intensify coordination to promote peace and stability, guided by the shared vision of Presidents El Sisi and Déby.
