Egypt has completed 84 petroleum product storage depots over the past 12 years, with total investments of around LE 42.7 billion and a combined storage capacity of 5.2 million tonnes, the Cabinet Media Centre said on Thursday.
In an infographic highlighting the expansion of the country’s crude oil and petroleum product storage system, the centre outlined completed and ongoing projects aimed at strengthening storage infrastructure.
Major completed projects include liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage depots in Sohag and Alexandria, SUMED’s marine berth and storage facilities, Sonker’s liquid bulk terminal in Ain Sokhna, and strategic crude oil storage facilities.
Projects worth a further LE 54 billion are under way, including expansions at Al Hamra Petroleum Port in El Alamein, an aviation fuel storage and transportation system at Badr Depot, and new storage depots at petroleum refining companies in Amreya, Assiut and Cairo.
