Egyptian Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafi el Gebali said on Wednesday that the Egyptian state had adopted a national strategy for family planning as part of efforts for facing the overpopulation phenomenon.
This came during his speech at the opening session of the Forum of Arab Parliamentarians on Population and Development hosted by the parliament.
He noted that the Covid-19 consequences had negatively affected the whole humanity and ruined many opportunities to reach real sustainable development.
He also asserted that the Egyptian parliament is giving great attention to the overpopulation issue and this coincides with the great development projects achieved in Egypt in all fields within the state’s goal to reach sustainable development.
He urged all parliaments in the region and around the world to co-operate and exchange expertise to address challenging population issues in a better way.
