The Ministry of Education and Technical Education announced the rules regulating 1st semester exams for the first and second grades of secondary school.

As per the new rules, the education directorates throughout the state were directed to adhere to the examination specifications set by the National Examination Center in drafting the exams’ questions, said Randa Shaheen, head of the public education sector at the Ministry of Education.

Also, the class teachers are prevented from putting exams for the classes in which they teach, and that the exams are drafted under the supervision of the first mentors in educational administrations.

Additionally, it was decided that the students will answer the questions on the same exam paper, while taking the necessary measures to maintain confidentiality during correction work.

With regard to copying and printing questions, the ministry directed that the exams papers be copied within educational departments or schools.

The Minister of Education, Dr Tarek Shawki, had announced that the exams of the first and second grades of secondary school will be completely paper-based exams and be held inside schools, with the multiple-choice questions representing 70% of the exam and the remaining are essay questions, she said.

More than 1.2 million male and female students are scheduled to enter the exams throughout the state.
