Exams for the 1st and 2nd grades of secondary school students for the first semester of 2021/2022 will comprise two parts; one electronic part and the other is an essay, Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawki announced on Tuesday.
He explained that the first part, which account for 70 per cent of the total mark, will include multiple-choice questions. It will be corrected electronically.
The second part, which will account for the remaining 30 per cent of the mark, will be in the form of essay questions and will be prepared by the educational directorate or administration. This part will be corrected by school teachers, the minister said.
He noted that the National Centre for Examinations and Educational Evaluation set out the technical specifications for essay questions, the learning outcomes that would to be measured, the number of questions and the mark of each question for all directorates.
On the other hand, external students will do tests on paper according to technical specifications that have been circulated to the educational directorates.
Moreover, those who will not be able to do the exam electronically for a technical reason, they will do the test on paper on the same day at the school.
The main objective of these assessments is to enable the student to know the level of his understanding of learning outcomes and to get an idea of the type of the new assessment questions, which aim to measure understanding of learning outcomes.
