Defence minister attends main phase of “Khaled-20” drill

Egypt’s Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki attended Tuesday the main phase of an exercise by the tactical command centers, “Khaled-20”, carried out by a formation of the Southern Military Region.

The drill is expected to last for several days as part of a combat training plan of the Armed Forces.

Attending the exercise today was Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Osama Askar and commanders of the major military branches.

Commander of the Southern Military Region Lt. Gen. Moheb Habashi Khalil stressed readiness of fighters to conduct all missions and their willingness to sacrifice for the sake of the homeland.

The exercise started with a brief presentation highlighting the idea of mobilization as manifested in the drills.

Defense Minister Zaki discussed the missions of the exercise with a number of commanders and officers.

He also met with formations of the Southern Military Region and conveyed best regards of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Sisi greatly appreciates efforts exerted by the Southern Military Region to eliminate smuggling and infiltration operations and protect the southern borders of Egypt, Zaki told them.

He praised the high level of performance of the units taking part in today’s drill.
