Damietta Port has achieved a new operational milestone with the arrival of the giant bulk carrier YANG FAN, marking the largest bulk cargo shipment in the port’s history. The vessel, sailing under the Panamanian flag, arrived from Singapore carrying 144,780 tons of slag ore imported from China.

Measuring 289 meters in length, 45 meters in width, and with a draft of 16 meters, YANG FAN is among the world’s largest bulk carriers. Its successful docking underscores the port’s advanced infrastructure and readiness to handle deep-draft vessels in line with international maritime standards.

Rear Admiral Tarek Adly Abdullah praised the achievement as further proof of the port’s comprehensive development strategy, which has included deepening navigation channels, upgrading berths, and modernizing marine services. He commended the professionalism of pilots, tug crews, and mooring teams for ensuring the vessel’s safe entry and berthing in record time despite its massive load.

Cargo unloading will be managed by Cisco Trans Logistics using state-of-the-art equipment, coordinated closely with port authorities to maximize efficiency. The milestone reflects Egypt’s broader transport strategy led by Minister Kamel El-Wazir, aimed at transforming national ports into regional hubs for logistics and transit trade.

This record-setting operation cements Damietta Port’s role as a central gateway for bulk and general cargo, supported by modern facilities and highly skilled personnel.
