Chief-of-Staff (CoS) of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lt Gen Osama Askar on Wednesday attended a practical exercise on small tactics and skills carried out by a formation of the Western Military Region.
The exercise was part of the combat training plan for the formations and units of the Armed Forces, the military spokesman said on his social media accounts.
The event started with a statement by Commander of the Western Military Region Maj Gen Mohamed Ezz Eddin Gahoush, who stressed the keenness by the Armed Forces Command on developing and upgrading combat training methods.
He added that the region’s military personnel renewed the determination to exert every possible effort and remain in constant preparedness to fulfill their missions to maintain Egypt’s safety and protect its sanctities.
This was followed by presenting the phases of the exercise; the topographic orientation, the positions of the participating forces as well as the basic skills of individuals and groups in the field, and the combined tactical training of the specialised elements.
At the end of the exercise, CoS Asker conveyed greetings of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defence and Military Production Gen Mohamed Zaki to all the participating elements for their efforts. He also lauded the elevated performance on the ground.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen Asker inspected some of the technical support workshops and checked on the technical condition of weapons, equipment and vehicles. He praised the efficiency of the technical support system, which helps maintain the highest levels of combat efficiency.
The exercise was attended by a number of the Armed Forces commanders.
