Egypt’s organisation of the “COP27” global climate summit has proven to the entire world that Egypt is really capable of hosting major international events, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) Salim M. AlMalik said Saturday.
Speaking to MENA on the margins of the global event, AlMalik added ICESCO is organising as many as 50 activities, including seminars, lectures, and initiatives at its pavilion at COP27.
ICESCO has also signed an agreement with the Egyptian government and some other institutions on clean energy applications at museums and archeological sites, said the organisation chief.
In partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, ICESCO has launched as well an initiative to establish a special fund to protect archeological sites and museums in Egypt and the Muslim world from climate change impacts, AlMalik said.
This fund would affirm our transition from sheer proposals and commitments to implementation, which is the motto of COP27, AlMalik noted.
