Egypt’s Communications Minister Amr Talaat said Wednesday that many American IT firms are operating in Egypt.
Talaat, in a meeting with US Ambassador in Cairo Herro Mustafa Garg earlier today, reviewed means of boosting co-operation with Washington in the field of communications and information technology.
The minister talked about Egypt’s digital strategy, noting that all projects are being implemented through partnerships with local and international companies.
Work is underway to implement a venture meant to upgrade the efficiency of internet services across Egypt, Talaat said.
He cited projects by his Ministry to provide high-speed internet and improve communications services in a number of Egyptian villages under the “Decent Life” initiative.
The government is also exerting utmost effort to govern the data, Talaat said, pointing out that a law was passed with the aim to protect the personal information of people.
