CAIRO – The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) directed the banking sector to intensify its participation in the presidential initiative “Decent Life,” which aims at improving living standards in villages of the Egyptian Countryside and offering quality services to the most vulnerable segments of the society.
That is part of its utmost keenness on boosting efforts exerted by the State to achieve sustainable development and Egypt Vision 2030, it said in a statement Monday.
Several banks have started to develop the financial infrastructure of villages listed in the initiative and to provide financing and various banking services and products for residents in these villages, the Bank said.
As well, the banks launched awareness campaigns in several villages of phase one of the initiative to help them learn more about modern financial and banking services and their needs, according to it.
Awareness-raising campaigns have resulted in providing financial education to more than 50,000 citizens as part of the “Decent Life” Initiative, it said.
