Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Salah and Belarusian Minister of Anti-monopoly Regulation and Trade Artur Karpovich signed a strategic cooperation protocol on Thursday, at the conclusion of the 8th session of the Egyptian-Belarusian Joint Trade Committee in Minsk.
The agreement aims to establish a comprehensive framework for increasing bilateral trade and diversifying exports.
The Belarusian side welcomed greater access for Egyptian agricultural, pharmaceutical, chemical and textile products, while both countries agreed to strengthen Egypt’s role as a regional hub for Belarusian exports to African and Arab markets, benefiting from Egypt’s free trade agreements.
The protocol also outlines an executive roadmap for expanding joint production and localizing Belarusian industries in Egypt, particularly in the manufacturing of tractors, trucks and heavy equipment, through cooperation with Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production and the Arab Organization for Industrialization.
Food security cooperation featured prominently, including joint efforts in grain production and storage, supply chain development, dairy and meat industries, and the exchange of expertise in agricultural and veterinary quarantine procedures.
In technology and innovation, both sides agreed to explore joint research projects in energy and agriculture, alongside scientific exchange programmes, researcher training and joint postgraduate studies between universities and research institutions in both countries.
The deal also includes cooperation in digital transformation, software development, customs modernization and anti-smuggling mechanisms, as well as collaboration in pharmaceutical manufacturing, and medical research.
The two sides further agreed to encourage tourism, explore direct flights between the two countries, and strengthen business ties through economic forums and digital platforms linking private sector companies.
