Egypt is keen to broaden the base of strategic partnerships with Romanian companies and global industrial partners to maximise the use of available manufacturing capabilities, transfer advanced technologies and create added value for the national economy, Minister of State for Military Production Major General Salah Suleiman Gomblat said.
Gomblat made the remarks during a meeting with Romania’s Ambassador to Cairo, Olivia Toderean, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Military Production’s Training Sector in Salam City, to discuss prospects for enhancing bilateral co-operation.
The minister underscored the ministry’s commitment to opening new avenues for co-operation with Romanian companies in areas of mutual interest, in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to strengthen international partnerships, leverage advanced expertise and technology, deepen local manufacturing and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products.
He explained that the ministry’s core mandate is to meet the requirements of the Armed Forces and police for weapons, ammunition, equipment and advanced electronic systems.
At the same time, its affiliated companies utilise surplus production capacity to manufacture high-quality, competitively priced civilian products and contribute to national and development projects.
Meanwhile, the Romanian ambassador praised the ministry’s advanced manufacturing capabilities, extensive expertise and highly skilled workforce, as well as its strong industrial reputation and commitment to delivering joint projects in accordance with agreed timelines and international standards.
Toderean reaffirmed Romania’s interest in supporting and expanding co-operation with Egypt, stressing the importance of sustained communication and co-ordination between the two sides.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on prospective areas of co-operation and investment opportunities aimed at strengthening Egyptian-Romanian industrial ties.
