Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman are set to enhance bilateral co-operation in higher education and scientific research.

This was the main topic of a meeting between Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdul-Ghaffar and the Omani Ambassador in Cairo Abdullah Nassir al-Rahbi, an official statement said Tuesday.

During the meeting, Abdul-Ghaffar said Egypt was keen to promoting bilateral ties in all fields.

The minister also stressed eagerness on providing all forms of support to Omanis studying in Egypt, removing all obstacles they might face.

Abdul-Ghaffar referred to his ministry’s achievements such as the establishment setting up various public, community and technology universities, as well as opening branches of foreign universities.

He underlined state keenness on promoting higher education and scientific research, inviting the Omani envoy to visit these universities.

Abdul-Ghaffar said Egypt is keen to attract more foreign students to study here as part of the ‘Study in Egyp’ initiative.

For his part, the Omani envoy voiced appreciation to the ministry for its consistent support to the Omani students studying here. He said the sultanate is most interested in strengthening ties with Egypt.
