CAIRO – Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayyeb received Monday newly-appointed Egyptian Ambassadors to Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands, Ehab Abu Srei and Emad Hanna, respectively.
During the meeting, the Grand Imam called on the diplomats to pay attention to Al-Azhar’s file as one of the prominent tools of Egypt’s soft power.
The Grand Imam wished the diplomats success saying the most prestigious Sunni institution is ready to offer all kinds of support including training of imams and preachers at Al-Azhar Academy for Training Imams, Preachers and Fatwa Researchers, to face extremist thoughts.
For their part, the ambassadors expressed happiness at meeting the Grand Imam, hailing his efforts to disseminate the upright teachings of Islam in Egypt and the world and promote the values of dialogue and tolerance.
