Al Azhar Grand Imam Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb met Monday with visiting Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of boosting cooperation, as well as benefiting from Al Azhar’s support to the Mauritanian nation.
Tayyeb, meanwhile, said that Al Azhar appreciates ties with Mauritania, pointing out to the crucial role played by Mauritanian scholars in preserving the Islamic heritage.
Tayyeb further welcomed the Mauritanian president during his visit to Egypt, affirming Al Azhar’s unwavering support to the Arab African country.
