Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayed Al Qusair discussed on Thursday with Hungary’s Ambassador to Egypt Andras Kovacs agricultural co-operation between the two countries and the outcome of his recent visit to Hungary which lasted from November 30 to December 3.

During the visit, minister Quseir attended the Planet Budapest 2021 Sustainability Expo and Summit.

The minister said serious steps were taken to activate agreements reached by the two countries especially in the fields of seeds, animal production and water, pointing out to a political approach to promote Egyptian-Hungarian relations especially in the agriculture and water domains.

For his part, the Hungarian envoy hailed coordination between the countries at the highest level to reap the fruit of co-operation.

During his visit to Budapest, Qusair signed a co-operation protocol with his Hungarian counterpart István Nagy in the fish farming field, as part of efforts for fostering and preserving freshwater fisheries and aquaculture development.

Fields of co-operation covered by the protocol include exchanging technical and scientific information in the fields of fisheries and fish farming, he said.

Qusair added that both sides agreed to form a joint committee to follow up on the implementation of the cooperation protocol, prepare joint projects and facilitate all measures related to fishing activities, as well as subsequent investment studies, researches, technology and knowledge transfer, and training courses included in the protocol.

Qusair discussed during his visit to Budapest with Nagy co-operation in the fields of livestock, poultry and fish production as well as veterinary vaccines and vegetable seeds, according to a statement issued by the ministry which added that Qusair reviewed the achievements that occurred in the field of agriculture in the past seven years to reach food security.

He noted that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had directed to increase the volume of cooperation between Egypt and Hungary in all fields.
