18 Egyptian universities listed in QS 2027 rankings

A total of 18 Egyptian universities and higher education institutions have been included in the 2027 QS World University Rankings, reflecting the growing academic and research competitiveness of Egypt’s higher education sector.

Cairo University ranked 363rdglobally, followed by the American University in Cairo at 390th and Ain Shams University at 551st, placing three Egyptian universities among the world’s top 600 institutions.

Alexandria University and the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) were ranked in the 801–850 category, with E-JUST making its first appearance in the rankings thanks to its strong research performance.

Future University in Egypt was placed in the 951–1000 category.This brings the total number of Egyptian universities among the world’s top 1,000 institutions to six.

Al-Azhar University, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Assiut University and Mansoura University were ranked in the 1001–1200 category. Beni Suef University, the British University in Egypt, Capital University, Delta University for Science and Technology, and Zagazig University were placed in the 1201–1400 category, while Benha University, the German University in Cairo, and Tanta University were listed in the 1401+ category.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdel Aziz Konsowa praised the results, emphasising the importance of continuing to support international scientific publishing, enhancing research impact, strengthening international partnerships, improving employment indicators, and attracting more international students and faculty members.

This year’s QS rankings evaluated 8,808 institutions across 106 countries, with 1,504 universities included in the final list.
